South Korean entertainment company CJ ENM has launched a new production studio titled CJ ENM Studios, focused on producing OTT content.
CJ ENM Studios, which will produce programs in a wide range of genres for global audiences, also plans to recruit on-screen and off-screen talent and expand its presence through mergers and acquisitions of production companies from ” foreground “.
Yong Soo Ha, former Executive Vice President of Business Development and Investments of CJ ENM, will lead the new venture, having been named CEO of CJ ENM Studios.
Ha joined CJ ENM in 2018, overseeing business strategy and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to serving as Head of Management Support Division at CJ ENM, he was also Chief Corporate Strategy Officer of CJ Group, first joining the company in 2009.
CJ ENM Studios is the third company to be added to the CJ ENM stable as part of the company’s plan to “strengthen its global content production and multi-studio structure.”
The Seoul-based company recently acquired a stake in the scripted division of Los Angeles-based Endeavor Content and has its own producer, Studio Dragon.
CJ ENM, which employs more than 3,600 people, is best known for the Oscar-winning film Parasite and unscripted formats such as I Can See Your Voice.
