The impact of social media on our society cannot be overstated.
There are a few holdouts who cling to a “Facebook-free” life as they’re likely to put it, but social media is a way of life in 2022.
If you were to ask a large group of teenagers what they want to be when they grow up, you’d probably hear “content creator” multiple times. Who could blame them, it’s a fun activity that puts them in the center of attention, and you can get paid well if you know the ropes.
This is how we end up talking about an influencer summit. That’s not exactly how it was framed, but that’s what happened recently at Maggie McFly’s in Brookfield. Below is a video posted by @jimyofficial who said:
“Today we’re at Maggie MvFly at a social media event called Keep it Social, let’s go. Man, there’s a lot of talent in this room right now, a lot of content creators in the Connecticut region, New England region, East Coast region.”
@jimyofficial Had a great time at this event 🎬 Connecticut has so much talent 😎 #ctfoodie #ct #ctrestaurants #brookfieldct #foodie #jimyofficial ♬ She Share Story (for Vlog) – 山口夕依
@jimyofficial goes on to explain Maggie McFly’s disposition and the many things a person might like to eat and do at the Brookfield bar. Something struck me about it, I had recognized that username and their face.
Where had I seen them before?
Oh yeah, that’s @jimyofficial that I wrote about recently. They made a video about how Brookfield is one of the most boring towns in the entire state of CT. It’s interesting, considering that a whole team of influencers chose Brookfield as a meeting point for people, from all over the East Coast.
I learned a lot with this video:
#1 – Maggie’s has had a complete and amazing interior and branding overhaul.
#2 – Influencers are starting to come together to build their followers. It’s a smart move, the fastest route to a new group of followers, is to have someone else with a massive following introduce you to their audience.
Looks like I’ll have to follow @jimyofficial and book them for the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave Show. It can’t hurt to make a local ally on social media. Maggie McFly’s is located at 195 Federal Road in Brookfield, CT.
PS If you had told me five years ago how much I rely on social media to do my job, I would have laughed in your face. If you had told me ten years ago, I would have been a bit confused by the words you were using. If you had told me twenty years ago, I would have thought you were an alien from another planet. It’s a reality we all learn to deal with, and some of us handle it better than others.
If you like to talk, read and hear about Brookfield or any of the other towns in the Greater Danbury area, there’s a show for you, the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave Show.
Check out the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave podcast on Apple and Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. It’s the same show we do on the radio but with limited commercials and no music. Or, listen live by streaming the show on the I-95 Rock Mobile app, or tune into I-95 (95.1FM).
Brookfield Vacant Properties Give Me Goosebumps
Brookfield Connecticut is a beautiful New England town with scenic landscapes and architecture. There is a section of road about a mile long, which time forgot. When the freeway was extended, life began to drain from this portion of the federal highway and COVID-19 put the finishing touch on any business that was holding life dear. There are supposed to be people in these places, that’s why they were created. The absence of humanity in these spaces makes them tragic and chilling.
