Food Rider fined RM10,000 for posting obscene content on social media

JOHOR BAHRU: A food delivery boy was fined RM10,000 by the Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to two counts of sending and initiating obscene material via social media, there two years old.

Judge Datuk Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim fined RM5,000 for each count against 25-year-old Muhammad Khair Maani and ordered the accused to serve six months in prison if he failed to pay the fine.

According to the two counts, he was accused of having used the Instagram application to knowingly cause and initiate the transmission of a communication, in the form of pornographic images and videos, with the intention of offending another.

Muhammad Khair was charged with committing the offense at Blok C, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here at 4:51 p.m. on January 24, 2020.

He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and is liable to a fine of up to RM50,000 or one year’s imprisonment. maximum imprisonment. or both and may be fined RM1,000 for each day the offense continues to be committed after conviction.

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission prosecutor Nur Nazhzilah Mohammad Hashim prosecuted the case, while the accused was unrepresented. – Bernama
